Hotel Shalimar | ||
Client brief – to create a warm and inviting ambience in the lobby of the newly renovated prominent hotel in the business district of Bangalore. The challenge was to create a design that would give the space a rich feel & also give it the perception of space since the ceiling was low and the lobby was small . | THE DESIGN The name ‘Shalimar’ is synonymous with great beauty as the Emperor Shah Jahan created the Shalimar Gardens which are known for their royal beauty. Keeping this in mind the ‘lotus flower’ was chosen as the pivotal form and the design was developed around it. mirrors have been used extensivley to give the feel of added space & also to infuse the space with reflected light .Since it is onto the road the mirrors reflect the buzz of people and vehicles moving adding a whole new dynamism to the space. The use of muted golden hues gave the lobby a royal look without appearing garish and thus added a certain elegance & charm to the place. The aesthetic artwork helped in recreating grandeur and infusing the space with irresistible beauty. |
